Question from Sr. Schmidbauer from last edition:

Describe your first job that you actually received a paycheck for.

That’s a good question. I worked at a grocery store, stocking shelves. It was easy!

What are your jobs at Brophy?

Other than teaching math, I’m also the freshmen basketball coach. I also moderate a club — the Stand Up Comedy Club. No, I don’t do stand up comedy, I’m just the moderator!

Have you had prior experience with Catholic education?

Yeah, I’ve been in Catholic education for 22 years.

Did you ever attend Catholic school?

I did, all the way through high school.

What made Brophy stand out to you?

Before this, I was an administrator at Notre Dame Prep, so I knew Brophy relatively well because of working within the Diocese of Phoenix. I always knew it just had an amazing reputation, and the more I got to learn about it, the more it just felt like it was the right place for me to be. So when a math position opened, I just kind of jumped on it, praying that I would get it.

Are you originally from Arizona or did you grow up elsewhere?

No, I grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. After undergrad, I moved to Seattle and then from Seattle down to Phoenix.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would say Greece — the Greek Isles.

What is a question that you have for the teacher featured in the next edition?

If you were a baseball player, what would your walk-up music be?
