This is what a normal day looks like for Harrison Chambers ’26: “6 in the morning I clock in, lift weights, then I go to school, then after school I go to track and get treatment, then I get home and do homework. That’s just how I balance it. And if I need to go to office hours then I go to office hours.”
Many people that walk around Brophy’s campus each and every day excel in either athletics, academics or both. Chambers, a rare sophomore starting running back, is an excellent example of one of these students.
On the athletic side, Chambers is a force to be reckoned with. He is on both the varsity football and track team. He said he loves sportsmanship and the competition that comes with it. According to Chambers, his favorite part of playing sports is “Winning big games and scoring touchdowns, just winning and having fun with your teammates.”
Before his high school career ends, Chambers said that he wants to win a championship at Brophy.
“I want to be one of the best players in Arizona, especially in my class. And for track I want to be in the 4×1 and go to state,”said Chambers.
Balancing your academics and athletics is enough of a challenge as it is, but when you do both at such a high level as Chambers, it is even more difficult to manage. A lot of times he doesn’t even get home until after dark and he still has to get all of his homework and his household responsibilities done.
Chambers said he gets his motivation from his coaches Mr. Jason Jewell and Mr. Scott Heideman. He said that he pushes himself so hard because his coaches expect a lot from him and he wants to live up to their expectations. He wants to show them all that he is capable of. As for who he looks up to, Chambers said that his dad is his biggest role model.
Chambers hopes to keep playing football in college and even go to the NFL. He said that for college his goal is “Going division 1 and keep pursuing my dreams.”
