Many students at Brophy know the name, “Best Buddies”. Few know what the club is truly about. Charlie Springer ’26 the president of Brophy Best Buddies spoke about what the club is about and how to get involved.
“Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization that works with people with IDD’s (Intellectual and developmental disabilities). We work to promote inclusivity with all people around the world, mainly with kids with Down syndrome and autism. We work to make them feel included in all parts of life” says Springer.
The Best Buddies club at Brophy is considered a promoter chapter. Members of Best Buddies will spend time with the Central High School special education program. Leaders of the club will invite the special ed students to Brophy for holiday events, crafts, and games.
According to Springer, the reason there are so many people in Best Buddies is because it allows us to connect to others in all aspects of life. “And overall, it just makes us feel like a better person when we help others. It’s all about what Brophy’s mission. To be a man for others. That’s what Best Buddies is all about. Being inclusive and being a man for others.”
