THE ROUNDUP
One week after a 45-0 win against Sandra Day O’Connor, Brophy travelled to San Diego and brought home a 30-12 win Aug. 29 against the Carlsbad Lancers.
Senior quarterback Cade Knox ’16 completed 40 percent of his 24 passes for 124 yards, one touchdown to receiver Ben Posorske ’16, with no interceptions.
Senior running back Ryan Velez ’16 carried the ball 18 times for 187 yards, in which he averaged 10 yards per carry. Both Knox and Velez scored a rushing touchdown.
Kicker Jacob Silver ’16 went three for four on field goals with scores from 45, 37 and 52 yards.
Mistakes irritated Carlsbad all night long, primarily with ball control. The Lancers had four fumbles, three of which came on the center-quarterback exchange.
Brophy was able to take advantage with 17 points scored off of turnovers.
Led by four-star recruit Connor Murphy ’16 the defense was continuously in the backfield and swarming the ballcarriers.
The night was capped off by an interception by defensive back James Mulligan ’16.
