Esparza Suady juggles athletics and academics
By Josue Valdez ’26
When asked to name someone he was inspired by, Luis Esparza Suady ’28 wasted little time pondering his options. “I’d say my biggest role model is Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s just such a hardworking guy, so humble,” said Suady, now a Brophy sophomore intent on bringing his all to both the field and the classroom.
Athletics is central to Suady’s life—indeed, he seems to love to run. He tackles heavy mileage while running for Brophy’s cross country team, as well as the track and field squad, where he competes in the 1600, 800, and 3200 meter events. He also plays soccer and is hoping to secure a spot on Brophy’s JVA team this season, having experience under his belt playing for the JVB squad his freshman year. He currently plays at SC Del Sol, continuing to develop his ability as a center midfielder.
A strong student, Suady takes Precalculus as a sophomore and enjoys honing his board strategy as part of Brophy’s Chess club. And, this year, Suady also joined The Roundup as a staff writer. When asked why he decided to fill his 7th period slot with Journalism, Suady said, “Well, I was really interested in learning how to write better. Also, Colin, Diego, and some other friends recommended it to me.”
His track record as a sportsman and academics precedes him. One can be sure that Suady will continue to strive for greatness as he approaches the halfway point of his Brophy career.
