It’s 2:30 pm, school just got out and it’s a chilly winter day. Most students would be heading home for a long night of homework or going out for food with friends. Yet, Alex King ’26 is going to get ready for a long soccer practice ahead.
Since his sophomore year here, King has successfully made the cut each season and has been a member of the varsity soccer team.
Brophy’s Varsity Soccer team has been a consistent, top five program in the state and recently finished 21-3 in the 2025-2026 winter season and was ranked number one in The Arizona Republic’s Super 10, which is a ranking of the top soccer teams in Arizona as the season began.
And this year King was named Captain.
“It helped me grow as a leader because I was able to teach not only my other seniors, but also other juniors and other sophomores on how to be a better teammate like my brother taught me… and how to grow and know your role and how to be be a better person overall and be a man for others,” King said.
“He did a good job of balancing us having fun and being serious, and that’s why I think we got as far as we did,” said fellow teammate Diego Alejos ’27.
And going into his final semester as a Brophy student, King was named a Distinguished Student.
But everyone needs a little bit of time away, and recently, King went on Brophy’s first immersion trip to Hawaii where students explored the island, some notable experiences being visiting Pearl Harbor and going to Diamond Head.
His teammates and friends think highly of King.
“Alex is a great guy,” said friend and peer Anthony Paramo ’26.
“Alex is one of the kindest people on the team and he is someone you can count on,” Diego Alejos said.
King has left a lasting impression on the people and places where he has spent his time, and he has undeniably been a pillar in this community.
