THE ROUNDUP
Head varsity basketball coach Mr. Tony Fuller is starting his ninth year coaching for Brophy.
“I think he is a great coach, knows a lot about basketball, and he’s experienced it for many years at every level.” Brock Brunkhorst ’16 said.
Mr. Fuller was the assistant head coach at the University of Stanford helping reach a .825 record over the course of 160 games.
Mr. Fuller played four full years at Pepperdine University averaging 20.9 points a game.
He later went on to play for the Detroit Pistons in the 1980-1981 season.
He was picked 1st in the 5th round, 93rd overall.
“Every offseason I try to look at my team and look at our program to try to think of what we can improve on,” Mr. Fuller said.
Mr. Fuller has called other coaches in order to get help as well as subscribed to different publications to get a leg up on the opponent.
This year Mr. Fuller is attempting to run a faster-paced offense as well as maintain a tough and strategic defense.
“He’s allowing us to play in the fast break more often instead of slowing down and playing a set offense and we are just trying to get out and run more,” Brunkhorst said.
