Soles2Souls, a non-profit founded by Jake Krotonsky ’24 and Alec Bansal ’24 that aims to provide quality shoes to marginalized communities, has supplied over 1,700 pairs of shoes to residents of Phoenix. Its story has been well-documented, but with the upcoming graduation of currentKrotonsky and Bansal, I’ve wondered about the organization’s future at Brophy.
“There will definitely be Soles2Souls on campus [next year],” said Krotonsky.
Julian Bojorquez Meza ’25 and Raymundo Sanchez ’25 will lead the club at Brophy next year while current board members Nick Carter ’24 and Andrew Phillips ’24 will provide assistance out of Arizona State University.
“We’re pretty comfortable leaving it behind in their hands knowing that they’ve seen our operations, they know our story,” said Krotonsky. “They’re hopefully gonna continue on our legacy.”
When asked if they were worried about the possibility of Soles2Souls’s mission changing under new leadership, the founders seemed unphased.
“We have trust in all four of those guys,” said Bansal, “that they have similar intentions as us, similar vision. So I don’t foresee any huge roadblocks.”
Krotonsky, who will attend Northeastern University, and Bansal, who is committed to the University of Notre Dame, will continue to facilitate events from afar. They hope to eventually found Soles2Souls chapters on their respective campuses, but, as of now, the organization will remain based in Arizona.
While they recognize Soles2Souls will likely evolve with the emergence of new leaders, Krotonsky and Bansal are not opposed to change.
“There are operational things that I’m sure will probably change over time, but we’re not opposed to things changing,” said Krotonsky. “But, we do want to keep our central mission of providing shoes to marginalized communities.”
