At Brophy Prep, Co-ed Clubs are essential for student growth. They provide experiences and lifelong lessons that our classrooms cannot offer.
For example, The Best Buddies allows both Brophy and Xavier students to collaborate, revealing the benefits of gender integration our school lacks.
While academics and athletics remain key components of Brophy’s success, the social skills and diverse viewpoints gained from co-ed environments, such as best buddies,s are integral to students’ success for the rest of their lives. “The club promotes inclusivity of women and people of all genders,” said Best Buddies club president Charlie Springer ’26.
Springer also explained the importance of a co-ed club on students throughout Brophy and Xavier. “It allows individuals to create connections and eliminate any possible biases they have had.”
Despite the endless opportunities Brophy fosters, its all-male environment creates an unrealistic image of life after graduation. Collaboration with female peers is limited to dances every few months, sports games, and the occasional co-ed club such as Best Buddies.
This is why co-ed clubs are imperative to the lives of students at Brophy. They provide another interaction path with our female neighborhoods that sporadically planned social events cannot match.
