THE ROUNDUP
The Desert Vista Thunder had hot hands the entire game Feb. 9 and downed the Broncos 59-33.
This was the Broncos biggest margin of defeat all season.
The game began on a positive note with Brophy quickly going up 1-0. But from then on it was all Thunder on their home court.
Chris Pierre ’11 led Brophy scorers with 13 points. He was the only Bronco in double figures; however, Sai Tummala ’11 grabbed five rebounds.
Junior Nick Timpani of Desert Vista had 23 points, including five three-pointers. Senior Duncan Schramm contributed 15 points as well, all of which were three-pointers.
Right from the start the Thunder could not miss a shot and also played lock-down defense on the Broncos.
Desert Vista’s physical defense limited Brophy’s scoring ability throughout the game.
James Harper ’12 ran into a screen late in the game and hurt his shoulder. He did not return for the rest of the game.
Coach Mr. Tony Fuller described the game as an “embarrassing performance.”
“We got to grow up, got to get some leadership, got to get some heart and some guts,” Mr. Fuller said after the game.
The Broncos were set to face Chandler at home on Thursday, Feb. 11 at home to wrap up the regular season.
